Detached seal in car doors
Problem
The customer reported an issue with the seal of the door lock in car doors detaching. The seal, made of PVC foam, was installed at the final stage of production.
Analysis
After conducting a detailed analysis of the assembly process, we determined that the main cause of the problem was the greasy surface of the metal on which the seal was mounted.
Solution
We proposed using a cut-out from masking tape, which was to be applied to the metal component at the first stage of the process. The tape was intended to serve as a protective barrier against contaminants, eliminating potential adhesion issues. The tape was removed before the seal application, ensuring a clean and prepared surface for mounting.
Result
By implementing the proposed solution, we completely eliminated the possibility of the component becoming greasy during the process. The seal was mounted without any issues, and poor adhesion was effectively resolved. The new approach to the assembly process allowed for smooth production, eliminating disruptions related to adhesion issues. Thorough problem analysis and the use of an innovative solution effectively addressed the seal adhesion problem.
