Breakages during transportation

Problem:

A client specializing in packaging automotive glass was experiencing a serious issue with numerous breakages during transportation. The high costs of claims and additional production related to damaged glass significantly burdened the company. There was a need to identify and eliminate the causes of damages, posing a challenge for the client.

Analysis:

We conducted a detailed analysis of the quantity of transported glass, identifying areas of the highest risk of damage. Together with the client, we developed several concepts for a new packing model. We prepared test products from various materials (cork, foam) with different adhesive properties. We also conducted a series of packaging tests on the glass and transport tests, identifying positive aspects and areas for improvement.

Solution:

We developed a new glass packaging system, consisting of 4 product groups, each designed to eliminate a different type of problem. This system was carefully tailored to the client’s needs, taking into account the specifics of the transported products.

Result:

After implementing the new packaging system, the number of breakages practically dropped to zero, confirming the success of the project. The client has been using this solution for 9 years, demonstrating its effectiveness and lasting impact on improving the quality of automotive glass transportation. Through collaboration and analysis, we not only identified the problems but also effectively resolved them, contributing to savings and increased efficiency in logistics processes.
